Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a

Director of Student Recruitment and Onboarding
. This is a full-time, administrative, exempt, non-union, and benefits-eligible position. This is a campus-based position with some hybrid work options available for candidates who pass probation. Additionally, this role will be required to travel to all three CCC campuses and across Oregon for attendance at community and recruitment related events. Some evening and weekends are required.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Director of Student Recruitment and Onboarding provides leadership and drives continuous improvement across the College's recruitment and onboarding activities, ensuring that students experience a coordinated and supportive pathway from initial outreach through successful enrollment and transition into their first term. As a leader within the Academic Foundations and Connections Division, this role helps shape the College's new applicant experience and ensures a clear, welcoming, and student-centered entry point for all prospective and newly admitted students.

This position oversees student recruitment and onboarding activities, including outreach communications, campus visits and tours, prospective student recruitment events, and new student orientation, and collaborates with departments across the College to strengthen alignment between outreach and enrollment efforts. The Director supports a seamless transition from admission to enrollment by leading onboarding strategies, communication, and student support from inquiry through registration and matriculation into the first term.

The Director leads efforts to identify and remove barriers within the enrollment experience, leverages technology and CRM systems to design and implement effective communication and onboarding strategies, and collaborates with internal and external groups to increase access to College and connect prospective students to educational and career pathways.

This role is responsible for managing prospective student communication plans, assessing and implementing recruitment and onboarding strategies, and applying best practices to effectively guide applicants through onboarding and enrollment processes for all target populations across the institution. The Director works closely with staff and faculty across the College to integrate efforts that promote programs, enhance marketing, strengthen recruitment and outreach, and build sustainable enrollment pipelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Student Recruitment and Onboarding



(50%)

  1. Leads the planning, design, coordination, and implementation of prospective student recruitment initiatives for all target audiences in alignment with CCC enrollment goals.
  2. Leads the planning, design, coordination, and implementation of the colleges new student onboarding strategies to support the transition from admission to enrollment and retention into the first term.
  3. Directs recruitment outreach efforts, including campus-based and community events, and serves as a primary representative of the College to prospective students and external audiences.
  4. Collaborates with the College Relations and Marketing department to develop and deliver content for electronic, print, social media recruitment materials using all relevant platforms.
  5. Develops and manages prospective and newly admitted student communications and utilizes the customer relations management (CRM) database to send tailored and personalized student communications, track response and open rates, and assess the effectiveness of various communication efforts over time.
  6. Expands the College's capacity to recruit diverse and under-represented student populations by adjusting recruitment strategies with an equity lens, investigating appropriate forums for engaging communities that represent those populations, and adjusting prospect-to-enrollment services to support in ways that are culturally appropriate.
  7. Monitors and analyzes enrollment and regional application, high school graduation, and workforce data to identify target populations for recruitment. Provides flexible, rapid response to emerging opportunities. Evaluates and reports on trends and developments across priority and emerging markets to inform the College's recruitment strategy.
  8. Oversees and engages in a continual improvement process for the getting started processes and procedures required for students to become registered students, including Testing and Placement, New Student Orientation, and Welcome Week activities.
  9. Supports Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) efforts by using data to design and implement initiatives that strengthen recruitment pipelines and achieve enrollment targets.
  10. Integrates navigation and student support strategies into onboarding processes, with a focus on reducing barriers and supporting first-generation, low-income, and historically underserved student populations.
  11. Provides enrollment updates to campus leadership, utilizes systems to pull reports, analyze and synthesize data and use data in goal setting and assessment.



Department Operations (30%)
  1. Manages, coordinates, and supervises the work of identified staff to ensure cohesive outreach and enrollment processes that align with institutional goals.
  2. Develops a knowledgeable, productive and effective departmental staff who are adept at meeting the needs of today's students, by hiring, training, and supervising full-time classified, part-time, and student employees both directly and through delegation.
  3. Works with coordinators to manage the day-to-day operations of the office and ensure staff schedules meet required business needs. Reviews peak times to reorganize schedules to meet demand.
  4. Maintains open and effective communication among all supervised areas engaging employees in regular team and individual meetings to set individual and team expectations and priorities, build consensus, address conflict and communicate changes or new expectations appropriately.
  5. Utilizes inclusive and culturally responsive team management practice to create sense of belonging and holds employees accountable to equity learning and practical application goals.
  6. Directs and supervises assigned personnel including, training, evaluating performance, responding to employee complaints, identifying areas for improvement, and correcting deficiencies, setting goals, and learning new skills and tasks; implements discipline and termination procedures and follows requirements set by collective bargaining agreements.
  7. Develops, implements and monitors department budgets, identifies needs, and evaluates expenditures, ensuring compliance with applicable fiscal restraints; implements and allocates resources following budget approval; approves expenditures.



Partnerships & Grants (20%)
  1. Provides recruitment and outreach expertise to employees across the campus and contributes to the development of good enrollment policy and strategic planning at the college.
  2. Serving on departmental and college-wide committees representing enrollment and pipeline programs.
  3. Oversees coordination of multiple special events focused on strengthening partnerships and visibility with high schools, employers, and other community organizations to increase CCC enrollment.
  4. Serves as a liaison with internal and external offices and departments that work with prospective students and engage in related recruitment processes (e.g. Office of Educational Partnerships, GED and Skills Development departments, and Financial Aid and Scholarships, and Trio programs).
  5. Represents the College on projects and program development with local high schools, other community colleges, four-year colleges and universities, community partners, and other educational partners.
  6. Collaborates with college departments like College Relations and Marketing, Advising, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, High School Partnership, Workforce, GED, and DEI to align messaging, timelines, and activities supporting student recruitment and transition.
  7. Leads, develops, and implements grant initiatives related to outreach, recruitment, and enrollment; coordinates with institutional partners to ensure compliance, reporting, and alignment with College strategic goals.



GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
  • Participate in college committees when requested.
  • Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related college, state, and federal standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Education, Leadership, Public Administration, Student Services or related human services field and at least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in student recruitment, enrollment management, educational partnerships, or related student services leadership within a college or university setting and experience supervising professional staff and managing complex, multi-unit operations focused on student access, recruitment, onboarding, or transition programs.

    • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.
  • Demonstrated success leading college-wide strategic enrollment initiatives, including the development and implementation of communication plans and/or Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) tactics and recruitment plans.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices in recruitment and student success work.
  • Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility, and a willingness to change.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES


  • Driver's license valid in the State of Oregon for travel to off-site locations.

  • Will work with underage youth and will need to pass a fingerprinting background check.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Education, Leadership, Public Administration, Student Services or related human services field.

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience implementing communication plans in Customer Relations (CRM) Databases like EAB Navigate, Slate, Ellucian Recruit, Salesforce, etc.

Terms of Employment

  • This position will be eligible to work remotely up to (2) days per week in accordance with the CCC policy after probationary period.
