JOB TITLE: Assistant Director HRIS, Benefits and Compensation Grade: MGT F Annual pay is $118,669/YR

The Assistant Director HRIS, Compensation and Benefits manages SEIU's integrated HRIS system and is responsible for ensuring the system meets the needs of the union's operations. The position is responsible for HRIS management throughout the union, supporting the HR Department and managers, to include the technical aspects of recordkeeping, ensuring data accuracy and up-to-date workflows. This position is responsible for a broad range of technical and administrative functions within the HR Department, including oversight of systems, automation of processes, and monitoring the budget. The incumbent is responsible for establishing and maintaining department records and reports.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Any one position may not include all of the specific duties and responsibilities listed. Examples provide a general summary of the work required and should not be treated as a total and complete list of expected duties to be performed by employees in the classification.)
- Ensure all of the human resources information systems operate smoothly. This includes, but is not limited to, electronic systems such as the HRIS (Ultipro) systems, the applicant tracking system (iCIMS), performance management systems (SuccessFactors) and other standalone systems that track training, claims, etc., and the coordination of portal updates with the Data Systems and Analytics and the Communications Departments;
- Serve as the integration point for a range of systems - ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems;
- Leverage data to support HR and other management planning;
- Automate onboarding, policies and procedures;
- Research, recommend, and implement systems upgrades and new systems to reduce redundancy and to streamline HR functions for maximum efficiency;
- Audit and ensure systems data for accuracy, integrity and alignment;
- Monitor and update human resources information systems, including hiring, performance appraisal, and staff status changes;
- Create and update user documentation to include how-to's, quick guides, etc.;
- Develop and monitor dashboards, metrics and automated data feeds and reporting;
- Update account logins, permissions, ongoing reports;
- Troubleshoot and report technical issues;
- Train users on functionalities and new features
- Export regular reports, and design ad hoc reports required by managers.
Include SEIU and affiliate staff, consultants, vendors, and internal managers, executives and officers.
Direction and Decision Making:
This position reports to the Chief Human Resource Officer or his/her/their designee. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter who can work independently but with a high level of accountability.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required and seven (07) to ten (10) years of experience in managing an HRIS or a combination of education and experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources and HRIS systems
- Thorough knowledge of HR/administrative operations required;
- System implementation or project management experience required
- Strong work ethic for working with confidential information;
- High level of judgment and discretion and a strong commitment to the goals of SEIU and its leaders.
- Experience initiating and maintaining ongoing improvements to Ultipro and iCIMS, SuccessFactors, etc.;
- Ability to monitor budget;
- Ability to work independently and develop and maintain relationships with all levels of staff both at the SEIU headquarters and in the field;
- Experience working with outside vendors/developers to manage both project development and budget requirements;
- Ability to train staff to use systems effectively;
- Possess strong communication skills for ensuring that employees, departments and divisions have access to the information they need.
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to handle multiple priority projects simultaneously and meet established
- Ability to learn new skills and continually develop existing skills related to the use of changing technologies and best practices;
- Ability to analyze systems to recommend updates and efficiencies;
- Thorough knowledge of labor unions and operations.
- Experience programming and working with workflow management systems preferred.
Work is performed in an office environment. Long and extended hours and travel may be required.
