Compensation Analyst

This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs that support Penn State University's strategic goals. Reporting to the Manager of Compensation and Classification, this position will primarily be responsible for University wide data analysis projects related to compensation equity, market pay, and salary setting. Act in a consultative capacity to Human Resources community and unit hiring agents concerning complex cases; works closely with the Classification and Talent Acquisition teams to resolve complicated compensation matters. Conduct research and analysis on compensation practices in the areas of job evaluation, base salary, pay structures, internal equity, external market trends, and compliance/regulatory issues. Develop collaborative client relationships to support effective compensation service delivery. Recommend and contribute to development of annual salary program, pay structures, and market adjustments; deliver a variety of training programs; and conduct market pricing and analysis. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following: knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects; ability to work both independently and cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, administrators, and outside agencies; excellent analytical skills including use of spreadsheets for data analysis, excellent judgment and organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; an outstanding customer service orientation; a commitment to fostering diversity and equal opportunity. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding
