Position Description:
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Campus Human Resources (CHR,) the Director of Total Rewards directs the full range of activities and services related to implementing the University's total reward programs for management, senior professional, and support staff positions across the UCLA campus. The position participates as a key member of the management team in developing CHR initiatives and programs, regularly assessing needs and priorities campus-wide, and developing new and innovative programs and solutions.

Provides the vision, leadership, planning, project coordination, and management to ensure that the day-to-day and strategic objectives are being met for the campus as they pertain to the University's compensation and benefit programs. Responsible for the effective utilization and management of department staff, ensuring all areas provide customer-oriented, service-focused, and cost-effective results. Represents CHR and the campus on various local and systemwide committees relating to areas of responsibility.

Manages effective execution and administration of compensation and classification systems and related processes designed to attract, retain and motivate a highly skilled workforce. Coordinates with campus departments, payroll services, and labor relations on compensation programs and initiatives to ensure effective program administration and adherence to policies and labor contracts. Assists campus departments with resolution of urgent or escalated issues; evaluates exceptions to policy.

Oversees the full range of benefit services for the campus, including implementation of annual open enrollment and interpretation of UC-wide policies as they relate to local practices. Provides guidance and direction to benefits staff, campus management, and retirement plan participants on complex matters to ensure effective utilization and adherence to policy. Requires knowledge of benefit trends, labor market conditions, and public sector requirements, ensuring compliance with regulations and mandates.

Collaborates with CHR directors and key stakeholders to ensure alignment with business strategies and priorities for all compensation and benefits related issues.


Special Instructions:
The budgeted hiring range for this position is $140,000 - $260,000 annually, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.

This position will primarily work remotely as long as the business needs of the department are being met. A FlexWork Agreement will be issued before the start date and is subject to change or renewal.
