DIRECTOR OF EMPLOYEE RELATIONS AND TITLE IX

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
1.Provide a full range of consultative and programmatic services included, but not limited to, the following: supervisory consultations related to performance and professionalism, conduct, disciplinary issues, grievance resolution; assistance and counseling to faculty and staff involving workplace concerns and disputes; monitoring department climates, and management of employee climate surveys.
2.Provide leadership in initiating, recommending, and implementing best practices on a wide range of employee relations issues; provide advice and guidance on complex and challenging matters; provide a variety of conflict resolution processes and strategies to faculty and staff to enable them to resolve disputes in the college setting.
3.Develop, implement, coordinate and conduct professional development and initiatives designed to educate and/or support faculty and staff on matters related to employee relations.
4.Stay abreast of employee needs and trends, leveraging HR and organizational metrics to help analyze and identify employee issues.
TITLE IX AND UNLAWFUL DISCRIMINATION COMPLAINTS
5.Ensure the District's proactive compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), the Clery Act as amended by the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2013 (VAWA), the Americans with Disabilities Act and the California Code of Regulations Title 5, and all other relevant federal, state, and local laws, statues, regulations, and District policies and procedures particularly related to matters of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and sexual assault.
6.Develop and maintain a case management electronic filing system that records, monitors, and keeps current all unlawful discrimination complaints, investigations, and grievances and associated documents.
7.Develop, implement, coordinate and conduct educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support faculty, staff and students regarding their rights and, where applicable, responsibilities regarding unlawful discrimination and sexual harassment, including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, and resources.
8.Promptly respond to, investigate, prepare and/or cause to be prepared appropriate investigative reports regarding discrimination complaints with findings of fact, analysis of credibility, and determination of responsibility on a timely basis.
9.Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor's degree with major course work in psychology, education, sociology, human resources, gender studies, legal studies, or a related field AND Three years of experience administering as either an employee relations program, or Title IX coordination, or conducting unlawful discrimination investigations.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three or more years of experience in the area of Employee Relations, Title IX coordination, and conducting investigations of complaints of civil rights violations or sexual assault incidents; AND leadership experience in an educational setting. One year of leadership, supervisory, or management experience. A Master's degree in a related field is desirable.

SALARY:
Non-Union, Steps 1-9, $9,137.00-$12,994.00. An excellent benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental, retirement, vacation, generous sick leave package, and life insurance is available for the employee and eligible dependents. This position is a classified exempt position in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and California Education Code Section 88020. The employee holding this position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

WORKING DAYS & HOURS: Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Approximately)

STARTING DATE:
As soon as the successful candidate is identified and following the subsequent governing board approval.
