About the Department: The Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at North Carolina State University is the first endowed academic department in the entire University of North Carolina System and is one of eleven departments within the College of Engineering at NC State. The primary purpose of the department is to provide a sound fundamental education to undergraduate and graduate students (both Masters and Doctoral) and to conduct basic and applied research in emerging areas of industrial and systems engineering. The department has a global reach, providing special courses for international universities, exchanging students and faculty internationally, and participating in international conferences. ISE also participates with the state in economic development and nationally/internationally in leading the profession. To learn more about the Edward P. Essential Job Duties: The primary purpose and function of the Contracts & Grants Manager position are to administer and manage all contract and grant accounts together with major centers' receipt accounts and to ensure the correctness and timeliness of all pre-award processes, such as proposals, for the department and major centers, such as the Ergonomics Center, the CAMAL, and Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute. It handles all research administration-related matters starting from preparing a proposed budget to the closing of the account successfully and on time while ensuring proper processes for management including release time, summer salary, cost sharing, and prior approvals. The position serves as the liaison with increased internal and external constituencies. The position manages all HR functions regarding sponsored research. This position also serves as a backup to other positions when the office is short-staffed or during times of extreme overload and helps with all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
