The University of Alabama is looking for a seasoned professional with experience and leadership in a high functioning HR environment to serve as the first Senior Associate Vice President for Human Resources. The SAVP will come to UA at a time of institutional growth and development to help the University implement a future-oriented and dynamic Human Resources structure as part of UA's HReimagined initiative. This ongoing initiative is positioning the campus to prepare for the UA faculty and staff of tomorrow and provide the campus community with cutting-edge HR services and programs through a decentralized HR process with talent embedded across campus. The SAVP will work to transform HR to become a leader and partner in delivering strategic and consultative HR advice and solutions throughout the University.

The Senior Associate Vice President for Human Resources serves as part of the senior leadership team reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Operations and will be responsible for implementing The University of Alabama's Human Resources workforce functions, structures, and policies. The SAVP functions as a strategic business partner to the executive management of the university regarding key organizational and management issues. Also, she/he will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing initiatives and strategies that support organizational effectiveness; professional development; personnel acquisition, management, and retention; succession planning; leadership development; benefits; employee engagement and communication; compensation; payroll operations; and customer service excellence.

The Senior Associate Vice President for Human Resources must have a history of progressively responsible management and leadership experience in areas of significant, complex, and high-level responsibility in administrative, human resources, and financial operations, as well as proven executive level management experience in a large, complex, and diverse organization and demonstrated success and experience with shared services. A Master's degree in Human Resources or Management, as well as SHRM CP/SCP or HRCI PHR/SPHR certification is preferred.
