Assistant Director Admissions & Recruitment
With specific emphasis on creating a welcoming and supportive environment within the Admissions & Recruitment Department, the primary focus of this position will be to develop and manage recruitment and yield strategies for the college. Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director will manage and execute internal and external recruitment activities and will assist with managing a recruitment communications plan. This position will also assist with management of day-to-day office workflow and operations, oversee recruitment calendars and travel, and execute recruitment strategies while supporting the continuous goal of providing a student-centered approach for Admissions and the College. The Assistant Director will also provide supervision to the part-time Admissions staff. They will have previous experience building collaborative partnerships with high schools and community-based organizations, and understand the changing demographic of community college students. The Assistant Director will also possess expertise in understanding enrollment trends and using data to develop strategic recruitment goals.
The Assistant Director is a leader in the Admissions and Recruitment Office and a key member of the enrollment management team. The position will work in collaboration with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, Academic Advising, Integrated Marketing, Institutional Effectiveness, Workforce Development and all other enrollment offices to support a seamless enrollment process for new and returning BHCC students.
Responsibilities:
- Proposes, designs and implements strategies that support the annual recruitment plan.
- Evaluates and uses data to inform the college's recruitment strategy.
- Assists the Director in the creation and execution of an annual marketing and recruitment plan.
- Manage the recruitment travel calendar, lead recruitment meetings, and assist with on and off campus recruitment activities.
- Coordinates the state-wide high school articulation process for incoming students.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with guidance counselors, and representatives of community-based organizations, as well as Bunker Hill Community College faculty and staff.
- Serve as liaison and point of contact for the Admissions department for an assigned Academic Divisions and/or assigned selective admissions programs.
- Provide exceptional, student-centered support to prospective and new students while maintaining consistent, high-quality service standards across the office.
- Coordinate recruitment outreach campaigns targeting prospective students; including first time to college, transfer, and community-based partnership programs, high schools and other organizations.
- Assist the Director with the recruitment, hiring and training of admissions and recruitment counselors.
- Support the Director by delivering ongoing training on software platforms, student information systems, and admissions policies, while also coordinating and facilitating professional development initiatives related to enrollment management.
- Under the direction of the Director of Admission, manages annual recruitment calendar; develops an assessment plan to measure the ongoing impact of all recruitment activities and works with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment to revise annual recruitment goals.
- Utilize student information systems, including Ellucian Colleague and customer relationship management system, TargetX, to design and generate reports that inform and support recruitment planning.
- Provide input on technological solutions and operational procedures to enhance all aspects of recruitment and admissions communications and processes.
- Represent the department on college committees and task forces, and in the larger community.
- Provide direct supervision to part time admissions staff and student workers.
- Develop and manage an Admissions Student Ambassador Program; provide training and professional development to student workers.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities that enhance their knowledge of recruitment and admissions at a community college.
- Perform related work as assigned.
Requirements:
- Master degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, Liberal Arts or closely related field.
- Supervisory experience in a higher education setting with experience in Admissions, preferably in the Massachusetts community college system.
- Minimum of 3 years of Admissions/Advising areas of higher education.
- Ability to travel to and from recruitment sites and conduct other work activities.
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
- Knowledge of TargetX, Salesforce, Colleague or similar student information systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be committed to the mission of the community college and demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
Additional Information:
Salary: $88,000-$95,000. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate with Education and Experience.
Non-Unit Professional. Full State Benefited position.
