Department Statement:
The Human Resources Department seeks to provide leadership and expertise on human resource issues by serving as internal consultants to University employees. It is the goal of the Human Resources Department to develop and support a diverse workforce; to attract and retain quality employees; to facilitate open, two-way communications between supervisory and staff personnel; to develop and maintain a climate of mutual trust, confidence and sensitivity to the needs of our employees and the University; and to build and enhance motivation, a spirit of cooperation and job satisfaction. Accountabilities:
Accountable for administering and supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources Department by leading assigned functional areas and supplementing support for all functions of the department as an HR generalist. Primary areas of accountability will be focused on onboarding, employee and labor relations, compliance and policies and supporting HR management.

Onboarding:
Accountable for creating a supportive and welcoming environment for new hires to ensure a successful experience. To include providing guidance to supervisors on successful onboarding practices. Develops, coordinates and provides orientation and follow up through early stages to both new employees and supervisors. Coordinates new hire orientation.

Employee and Labor Relations:
Accountable for providing on-going coaching and counseling to both employees and managers regarding workplace issues, disputes and grievances. Responsible for assisting with all bargaining units to maintain positive, sustainable relationships. Responsible for support of negotiations with bargaining units. Coordinates exit interview survey process and conducts in person interviews as requested, compiles data and monitors for trends.

Compliance and Policies:
Accountable for monitoring and researching regulatory changes, analyzing the impact and drafting proposed policy changes. To include updating Staff Handbook and labor agreements. Provides support in preparation of personnel action and legal documents.

HR Management:
Accountable for supporting a broad spectrum of HR functions to enhance overall knowledge of expertise and to supplement support to other administrators. These areas may include: Workforce planning: working with supervisors to determine needs, develop job descriptions, analyze market salary data and provide comparisons to budget. Annual salary process: preparing data for annual salary review and recommendations, including market data analysis and responding to surveys, compiling bonus recommendations. Research and analysis: conduct research, analysis, and studies to address issues and challenges related to human resources; track KPI's, assist with recommendations to resolve problems and enhance services. Program effectiveness: review effectiveness of current programs, policies and procedures and recommend revisions accordingly. Strategic and program support: Researches and consolidates information required for analysis of human resources operations and prepares special projects as assigned. Provides support for strategic initiatives and projects. Serves on University committees, as a representative of HR.

Employee Engagement:
Accountable for working as a team member in the delivery of exceptional service. Responsible for providing thorough responses to employee questions regarding policies, procedures and programs. Responsible for assisting with office coverage, as needed, including answering phones and assisting customers as necessary to supplement the overall delivery of service.


Professional Experience/Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in human resources positions in the areas of outlined responsibilities.

Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to compose a variety of communications and reports.

Strong organizational skills coupled with attention to detail.

Requires initiative and the ability to prioritize.

Demonstrated technical competency including proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Google documents and other comparable software programs is required.

The ideal candidate should possess the ability to multi-task in a busy team-orientated environment.

Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience and knowledge of Banner and PeopleAdmin or comparable human resources information systems/ software is preferred.

Report writing experience preferred.


Education
Candidates must possess a bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
