Summary

The Director of Talent Acquisition is responsible for leading recruitment strategies, managing the hiring processes, and fostering a positive candidate experience. The incumbent oversees the full recruitment lifecycle and collaborates with internal departments and teams to understand hiring needs, develop sourcing strategies, and ensure the acquisition of a talented and diverse workforce.

Essential Functions


  • Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy in alignment with university and department strategic objectives to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead a high-performing recruitment team, providing guidance, mentoring, and a collaborative environment. Consult and advise the team on best practices, trends, and new technologies; implement, and monitor talent pipelines and ensure the development of diverse applicant pools.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external individuals, organizations, and key stakeholders to foster partnerships, monitor workforce planning and formulate proactive short term and long-term strategies to meet the staffing needs of the organization along with maintaining a robust candidate pipeline for key openings.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with third parties such as search firms, vendors, job websites, social media platforms, post-secondary institutions, and other sourcing outlets. Network through industry contacts, memberships, and employees professional networking sites to identify and attract a high-quality and diverse applicant.
  • Establish and execute appropriate recruitment objectives using sourcing strategies and assessment tools to leverage team resources, remove barriers to access, and identify areas for improvement. Track and analyze data to drive strategic and operational decisions.
  • Monitor and ensure legal compliance with state and federal employment requirements applicable to the recruitment, hiring and on-boarding processes including, but not limited to, equal employment opportunity, privacy, public records, accessibility and I-9 compliance for the university in close collaboration with university compliance professionals.
  • Collaborate with HR partners to ensure seamless integration of talent acquisition efforts with broader HR initiatives.
  • Responsible for recruitment, employment and onboarding practices, procedures, and policies to include background checks, compliance, and search committee training.
  • Responsible for talent acquisition and onboarding technology platforms to include any implementations, upgrades, updates to security levels, and practice improvements with the assistance from HRIS.
  • Oversee job posting and selection process and advise hiring managers and search committee chairs of procedural requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Participates in strategic planning for OHR and manages other projects and/or initiatives as identified. Member of the HR Leadership Team.

Minimum Qualifications

The following Degree is required:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application.
The following Degree is preferred:
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field.
The following Experience is required:
  • 5 years of professional experience in Human Resources
  • 3 years of professional experience in recruitment and selection
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
The following Experience is preferred:
  • 3 years of experience in recruitment in Higher Education
  • 2 years of experience in faculty hiring and recruitment


Additional Information

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of Human Resources applicable federal and state laws including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Ohio Revised Code (ORC), Ohio Administrative Code (OAC), and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups on campus
