    About Central Services:
    Central Services is placed organizationally within Library Administration and encompasses four major functional and operational areas: Facilities and Business Services, Human Resources, Financial Management Services, and Communications. The mission of Central Services is to ensure the Libraries' four central services operations are integrated, timely, high-quality, equitable, accessible, and cost-effective.
    Position Summary

    The HR and Administrative Manager provides essential human resources and administrative management to UO Libraries. They will support and facilitate effective communication, high standards of workplace conduct, and interpersonal problem-solving with high levels of confidentiality, sensitivity, and cultural awareness. The position is expected to use diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility frameworks in every part of its responsibilities.

    The HR and Administrative Manager manages and provides hands-on work for all aspects of human resources operations for UO Libraries, including recruitment, onboarding, professional development, employee engagement, performance management, and organizational enhancement. They will also manage projects for Libraries' strategic initiatives, plan and execute administrative processes, and recommend and implement process improvements.

    This position regularly exercises independent judgment and develops unit policies and procedures involving personnel and office staffing resources. In addition, they interpret and apply the appropriate policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable entities. They supervise a team of three human resources and administrative support employees.

    As an administrative division of the Office of the Provost, Libraries will be part of an upcoming transition to a shared services model. Responsibilities for this position will evolve, and it is important that the individual in this role is prepared to support and facilitate this transition and be adaptable to change.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as human resources, organizational development, social sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of human resources experience.
  • Two years of experience as a supervisor, or equivalent combination of lead work experience and/or training in supervision, leadership, or related skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds and with diverse life experiences and learning styles.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials and issues with care and tact.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, identify long-range goals, design realistic plans to attain them, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, diplomacy, and perceptual objectivity for effective decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change in a complex environment, and adjust planning and activities to support changing priorities.
    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education and/or academic libraries.
  • Experience working within University of Oregon policies and procedures.
  • Experience with PageUp ("MyTrack") or other enterprise talent management software.
