Rockhurst University is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team.

About the HR Department:

The Generalist reports to the Human Resources Manager in a four-person department responsible for serving approximately 500 full-and part-time faculty and staff. While this position provides general human resources support to the university, the primary focus areas for this position are employee recruiting, onboarding, and HRIS responsibilities. This position serves as the subject matter expert on recruitment, talent management, retention, workforce and HRIS management.

Essential functions and responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Manager, hiring managers and search committees to source candidates
  • Work closely with internal clients to provide applicant pools through active recruiting, interviewing assistance and guidelines, and serve as the primary contact for all staffing university wide
  • Develop job descriptions, ensure compliance with recruitment processes, and required postings
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and delivering effective HRIS training opportunities for university personnel
  • Administer and manage on-line applications and onboarding processes
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and new hire processes
  • Promote HR programs and policies to create an efficient and productive workplace
  • Undertake complex tasks around HRIS system maintenance
  • Maintain employee records in electronic and paper form
  • Maintain a strict level of confidentiality
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance and regulatory issues
  • Research HR topics as assigned to implement new policies, programs, and procedures
  • Provide back-up assistance of various HR projects and functions


Qualifications:

Rockhurst seeks candidates for this position who have a proven success record in the field of Human Resources, preferably in a higher education. The successful candidate will have qualities that exemplify the Universitys Jesuit character, mission, and commitment to excellence. Demonstrate the ability to build and sustain a collaborative, team-oriented and approachable style are essential skills for this trusted position.

Specific requirements include:
  • Three (3+) years of relevant, increasing levels of experience and responsibility with human resources in a higher education or similarly complex, professional environment.
  • Bachelors degree in business administration, human resources, psychology, or related field required or a combination of comparable work experience and education.
  • Experience working with complex HRIS and payroll systems. Prior working knowledge with Paycom and/or Banner is a plus.
  • Leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organization and communications skills.
  • Hands-on experience with increasing departmental efficiencies and effectively responding to competing priorities required.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional internal customer service.
  • PHR or SPHR and experience in other HR functional areas strongly preferred.
