Job Details Description:

Recruitment and Employment

Support and coordinate the hiring process for faculty and non-faculty/staff vacancies.
Coordinate the new hire/onboarding process, reviewing and processing required forms, responding to inquiries, providing new employee orientation, and ensuring a smooth onboarding of employees in coordination with VSC HR.
Provide interview training and coordinate searches with hiring departments and search committee
Consult with managers and supervisors to assess staffing needs and assist them in developing requisitions and job descriptions based on needs

General HR Consultation

Act as consultant/contact/liaison for faculty, staff and management on HR issues including personnel practices and university policy, employee relations, compensation, training, recruitment and benefits
Coordinate and/or implement Supervisory Training courses
Assist managers/supervisors in the completion of performance evaluations
Draft and review disciplinary actions including performance improvement plans
Assist departments in writing/updating position descriptions for classification review
Address employee and labor relations issues including progressive discipline, reductions in force, and explanations of and compliance with collective bargaining agreements and Board policies
Interpret and explain HR policies and regulations relating to employee and labor relations, salary administration, leaves of absence, and related employment matters to employees
Explain applicable workers' compensation, disability, leave policies and procedures

Transactional

Administer staff policies and processes for NVU; maintain appropriate records for both campuses
Initiate and/or approve various HR transactions within UKG to establish positions, hire, change salaries, leaves of absence, workers compensation, etc.
Supervision Received
Direction is provided by the Dean of Administration, with input and guidance, from VSC HR Director as necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Three years of progressive experience in a professional human resources capacity.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and understanding of group dynamics.
Successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with a diverse client group with the ability to influence.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
Demonstrated proficiency with business applications, such as Microsoft Office, Human Resources Information Systems (UKG preferred)
Knowledge of employment laws (including FLSA, FMLA), recruiting procedures, compensation practices, personnel reporting, and record keeping, as well as employee relations required
