The San Jose/Evergreen Community College District is seeking a part-time/adjunct Small Business Development (Entrepreneurship) at San Jose City College.

The Business & Workforce Development Division is seeking a qualified instructor to teach entrepreneurship classes at San Jose City College. The successful candidate is expected to have experience or expertise in entrepreneurship and ability to teach a variety of entrepreneurship courses at the undergraduate level. Qualified candidates will have excellent teaching, lecturing and mentoring skills with a history of actively engaging in professional associations and networking in the field. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated ability to develop and deliver inspiring lectures on the subject of entrepreneurship. He or she will initiate and/or collaborate on improving and developing our Entrepreneurship program to include fundamental elements of business entrepreneurship such as passion and creativity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach courses in assigned discipline by communicating subject matter clearly and effectively.
Participate in the development and delivery of inspiring lectures to audiences of varied backgrounds.
Ability to adapt presentation and content to suite varied training environment and requirements.
Ability to develop captivating class material.
Adapt methodologies for students with special needs and different learning styles.
Demonstrate commitment to professional development, including but not limited to activities such as: participation in professional conferences, workshops, seminars, membership in professional organizations, research projects, publishing academic work, participation in statewide committees or organizations, etc.
Demonstrate sensitivity in working with students and staff of diverse racial, ethnic, academic and socio economic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and disabilities by showing respect for differences and the dignity of others.
Participate in faculty responsibilities such as: course and curriculum development and review, student learning outcomes and assessment, program review, committees, research and special projects as needed in the discipline/department or district.
Attend and participate in department, division and college meetings and keep posted office hours.
Meet record keeping obligations on time, e.g. grades, census, reports, rosters, textbook orders, and requisitions.
Maintain and provide current course syllabi as required by California Education Code and Board policy.
Foster a professional work and learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in any subject, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment;

OR

Associate degree in any subject, plus six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.



Desired Qualifications:
Experience in teaching Business and entrepreneurship courses including introduction to small business management, business management, and entrepreneurship.
Experienced in the development of small business, small business management and small business funding.
Experience in high-technology entrepreneurship
Experienced with industry business models
Experience with using educational technology, including course management systems.
Knowledge of emerging technologies and their application in learning assistance.
Experience in developing innovative instructional approaches that address multiple learning styles.
Evidence of strong commitment to professional development such as conferences, workshops, committee work, and/or relevant community service
Experience working with a student population that reflects the demographics of San Jose City College.

Salary placement is based on candidate's verified education and experience.
