The Title IX Deputy Coordinator is responsible for assisting all major duties of the Title IX Coordinator. Major responsibilities will include conducting and overseeing the complaint resolution process (including investigations) for potential violations of campus gender discrimination, sexual violence, and sexual harassment policies and procedures. The Title IX Deputy Coordinator will also assist with Title IX-related education and training endeavors at the university. The Title IX Deputy Coordinator may also be delegated responsibility to supervise investigations and other work assignments assigned to other Title IX Office staff.

Required:
  • Deep and broad knowledge of Title IX regulations and related federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to Title IX, gender discrimination, sexual violence, and sexual harassment. Professional knowledge of other elements of human resources law. Strong knowledge of case law, University policy, trends, and issues.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills at a high management level. Ability to design and carry out a multifaceted communications program.
  • Exceptional skill in developing and delivering training and education programs about gender discrimination, sexual violence and sexual harassment. Ability to effectively conduct training and education programs, workshops and other presentations for small and large groups.
  • Capacity to oversee and conduct sensitive investigations, review investigation reports, and exercise judgment in making findings regarding whether violations of non-discrimination, sexual violence, or sexual harassment policy or law have been committed. Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively mediate conflict and communicate across constituencies, while demonstrating empathy and understanding in situations concerning sensitive matters.
  • Ability to advise and consult on sensitive matters related to sexual harassment and discrimination. Demonstrated ability to convey sensitive information in written reports.
  • Ability to design and manage effective administrative processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with individuals from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds, including those related to membership in historically underrepresented racial, ethnic, and national origin groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with only general direction and to accept equivocal circumstances and take appropriate action where answers to a problem are not readily apparent.
  • Ability to research, interpret and apply law and policy.

    Preferred:
  • J.D. strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Skill in management and staff supervision. Ability to learn on the job and manage constantly shifting docket and diverse team of staff who oversee investigations of sensitive and complex subject matter.
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate effectively between and among all levels of academic and staff personnel and students, and between individuals.
  • Skill in program development including delineating goals and objectives, determining implementation steps and time frames, designing evaluation measures, and modifying designs and procedures to accommodate current organizational needs.
